Crayons, Hamburgers-- Who Cares!

Crayola is discontinuing a color. McDonald's is using unfrozen hamburger meats in some of it's burgers.

I've suffered through numerous social media reports along with TV constantly reporting on this nonsense for days.

Recently an expert giving testimony to the senate investigative committee explained how robotic software can fake stories into the top ten in popularity. As a result major media then reports on these hyped stories thinking they are at the top of the list. That's how the news business works today. As for me...

Should You?

What Constitutes An Allentown Nuisance?

"The ordinance would create a point system based on various infractions, from crimes such as corrupt organizations, human trafficking, child endangerment to violations of the Clean Water Act, animal cruelty law and noise control ordinances. Points can be assessed against a property owner or a tenant."

Sounds like a good plan to me. What say you?

Complete Analysis Of White House Russian Connection

Unless someone just crawled out from under a rock everyone realizes there's a huge stink going on. * Were the 2016 campaigns influenced by Russians?
* What role in the past or current actives do the staffers in this administration play regarding questions over Russian interference?
TV news cable channels have devoted hundreds of hours with dozens of experts in an attempt to enlighten the public. I, not being satisfied with their long winded unclear bloviations have exhausted all my resources to come up with an expert. It was a exhausting search but--as you will see--the rewards for my efforts were well worth it.

On This Day Russia Sells Us Alaska

Had they only known I bet they'd love to have it back.
"In 1866 the Russian government offered to sell the territory of Alaska to the United States. Secretary of State William H. Seward, enthusiastic about the prospect of American expansion, negotiated the deal for the Americans. Eduard de Stoekl, Russian Minister to the United States, negotiated for the Russians.

On March 30, 1867, the two parties agrees that the United States would pay Russia $7.2 million for the territory of Alaska. For less than 2 cents an acre, the United States acquired nearly 600,000 square miles.

Opponents of the Alaska Purchase persisted in calling it "Seward's Folly" or "Seward's Icebox" until 1896, when the great Klondike Gold Rush convinced even the harshest critics that Alaska was a valuable addition to the United States."

According to the Alaska Oil And Gas Association-- "Alaska’s oil and gas industry has produced more than 17 billion barrels of oil and 13 billion cubic feet of natural gas... The State of Alaska has collected $157 billion (in today's dollars) from oil since 1959.."

Now that's what I call
one hellva' deal!

Humans Need Not Apply

We'd all like to see the good old days come back but neither I, Donald Trump or anyone else can turn back the hands of time

Sorry Donald only 130 new jobs will be created.

On Tuesday (03/28/2017) Ford announced they'd spend $1.2 billion in Michigan to modernize some of its plants and on new a data center. Here's why so few jobs will be created....

The Ford Rouge Factory F-150 Dearborn, MI, Assembly Line Tour (2015)

Nothing new. This goes back to 2012

I can attest to the fact after working over 33 years in production in the food industry over half of our jobs were eliminated by automation.

Manually Stacking Pallets Was Eliminated Years Ago (no sound)

I alone ran 5 of these at a time which replaced 10 hand stackers

I also operated several case packers each similar similar to this one

Each replaced 5 hand packers

These lines ran from 200-300 units per minute. Overall between the case packing machines and palletizers over twenty jobs were eliminated requiring only 6 like myself to run the replacement machines. Since I left 5 more workers were replaced by machines that delivered the bottles before they shut the plant down in the 'Grey Poupon' and A1 steak sauce department alone. From what I understand the new plant now doesn't even require 2 fork lift operators to move them to storage areas--where robots now replaced several more fork operators who once pulled the orders from the racks where they were stored.

Here's another video from 2013

Notice the lack of humans?

"Krones" (from Germany) was much of the equipment we used in latter years.

Before Kraft ended it's Lehigh Valley salad dressings production 30 years ago we produced 300 quart jars a minute on one single line. It required only four cooks, 2 line operators,1 case packer operator and one of our 4 palletizers (at the time) manned by two operators. A dozen years ago among some 500 hundred of us produced over 500lbs of wrapped cheese per minute, Sliced 2,000lbs of natural cut cheese and some 10,000lbs of Parkay margarine per hour. This along with portion controlled packets of ketchup, mustard and syrups for restaurants.

The point of this..
Don't believe Donald Trump when he says he can wave a magic wand and bring back jobs like they once were. Far more jobs disappeared through automation and changing demands then because of "foreigners" taking away our jobs. Yes I too long for the good old days, but we need to realistic. Hess's in Allentown nor Kraft isn't coming back to the Lehigh Valley. No matter how we wish it to be so.

Trump Either Dumb As Dirt, Lies Or Delusional

Trump is either dumb as dirt, lies Or delusional. These are the only three possible explanations for his behavior.

He's acting like a 6 year old who never should have been given a dangerous chemical set for his birthday little alone a country to run.

"President Donald Trump said Tuesday night [03/28/2017] that he was going to make a bipartisan deal on healthcare “very quickly” during an event with US Senators at the White House... Nobody ever told me that politics was going to be so much fun,” Trump joked... I know that we’re all gonna make a deal on health care — that’s a very easy one. And I think that’s gonna happen very quickly.” "This was four days after the healthcare bill was pulled when it became apparent it would fail miserably. Bad memory or delusional?

A few days ago his White House put out a draft for the 2018 budget that has no chance of passing in it's current form. It strips nearly every agency--totally ending dozens of others. All this to build a wall and load up an already out of control defense budget plagued with accounting problems and overbids. Currently the U.S. spends over 4x's more then China--the next highest country. Over 6x's more then Russia. Yet this president wants to spend $54 billion more as he leaves all department and agencies in tatters in its wake.

In a previous post I provided a link to his 62 page budget outline HERE. These cuts are not only draconian but would go towards dismantling our government like no other outside forces ever could.

True BUT only 130 new jobs is nothing to shout about 3x's in CAPS

The there's this tweet..
There's so many things wrong with this. First off Bill Clinton wasn't in office when this deal went through. Hillary was Secretary of State under Barack Obama at the time. According to "Politifact"-- " Russia bought a controlling stake in Uranium One. The company has mines, mills and tracts of land in Wyoming, Utah and other U.S. states equal to about 20 percent of U.S. uranium production capacity. So, to be clear, the 20 percent is capacity, not uranium that has been produced... Given that Russia doesn’t have the licenses to export uranium outside the United States, it was likely more interested in Uranium One’s assets in Kazakhstan, the world’s largest uranium producer, our colleagues said... It was one of nine U.S. government agencies, plus independent federal and state nuclear regulators, that had to sign off on the deal" So there can only be 3 possible explanations for this tweet. Trump is either lying, dumb or delusional.

If this doesn't scare you it should
Ordinary I wouldn't be concerned having faith in our system previously Instead what I'm seeing are a bunch of enablers. These not only include those in Washington D.C. but all those who voted for him with their continued allegiance to a man who obviously hasn't a clue and is in way over his head. I could list dozens of more examples of his ineptitude. Suffice to say I truly believe the United States is on a fast roller coast ride where a comeback will nearly be impossible if this continues.

The issue here isn't about a war between Republicans, Democrats or Trump himself--although many will insist it is. It's not about differing ideologies either. What's at stake is our very country itself risks being torn apart within. It's only been three months. Imagine three more years with this kind of leadership.

I'm certain at some point people will wake up but by then it may be too late. There's cover-up after cover-up. Excuse after excuse being made that everything will turn out just fine. That somehow we'll survive this fiasco. I have my doubts.

Here's What's Going On In The Swamp Today (03/27/2017)

"The Golden State legislator briefly disappeared the night before he announced that the Trump transition team had been the victim of “incidental surveillance... the White House did not know he was there, either."COMMENT: Or so we're led to believe.

"Yhe Law Department claimed 78,500 cigarette shipments — sent illegally from state Indian Reservations — cost the state and city more than $35 million in tax money"COMMENT: OMG--does this mean UPS is suppose check every online purchase they deliver someday too? So I guess this means they are suppose to act a collection agency for the government w/o compensation.

"John Podesta, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s 2016 national campaign chairman, may have violated federal law by failing to disclose the receipt of 75,000 shares of stock from a Kremlin-financed company when he joined the Obama White House in 2014"COMMENT: Russian roots run deep. Should have elected the only clean candidate when we had the chance--Bernie Sanders.

"A court-appointed investigator has found that the United States Attorney’s Office for Kansas is in possession of hundreds of phone and video recordings of communications between attorneys and their clients, inmates at a privately run prison facility in Leavenworth."COMMENT: Looks like a lot of cases could be tossed out. Smooth move Ex-Lax.

Healthcare Bill Failed Next Up The Budget

Next on the agenda is the budget for 2018. A few day's ago the White House released it's "blueprint" draft 62 pages in length.

NPR Was Kind Enough To Post The Entire Document
https://apps.npr.org/documents/document.html?id=3518196-2018-Blueprint

If this administration thought healthcare repeal and replace was a toughie they haven't seen anything yet. Whether one agrees with the White House's draft or not what we're about to see is one hellva' battle. Especially looking over just a few of these cuts..

This president has the habit of taking credit when things go right Then pointing the finger at others when they do not on twitter. If things go the way I think they will over the next few weeks his twitter fingers are going to be blistered. It's almost certain too there will be plenty of foot blisters to go around when protestors most likely take to the streets if the past is any indication.

Although I prefer to sit this one out I do have a few thoughts before the games begin. What we have here is similar to football. We have two teams. One, the conservatives. The other, liberals.

On the conservative team you have players willing to trip up other players on their own team so they can't reach the goal. Some range from a no government policy to less government. Because of this division they failed to reach an agreement on healthcare.

On the liberal team--players may have trouble getting on the team because owners (voters) didn't want to fully staff the entire team. Hence we have an unequal number of players going into the game.

The outcome of the game will be determined by which team is more able to unite their players better then the other despite one having less players. If both teams--because each of their inadequacies end up tying the game it will go into OT (a government shutdown). And that folks is where I think we're headed.

But this isn't football. This is real life. If government goes into indefinite OT (shutdown) fans aren't going to stick around forever waiting to see how things turn out for their team. They'll leave disappointed and pissed off with both sides along with the players they supported. Fans may not show up for the next game (election).

That's why it's important players (politicians) treat each another fairly and respectfully on both sides--even those on their own team. If sports teams acted this way it would be the end of the road for whatever sports we're talking about. When it comes to sports (just like government) it's important that fans (citizens) have confidence there will be a fair outcome in how the game is played. Otherwise I fear rioting in the stands.

So yeah I'm concerned what may be on the road ahead with this president stirring the pot. When players fight like hell fans tend to get involved in kind. This is not good for either America nor it's people. Is this the fate that awaits us?

Gosh I hope not!

Trump Handed Germany A $374 Billion Invoice for NATO

Let me explain this simply as possible. The United States nor Trump is in charge of some military corporation. This is an agreement between nations. Who the hell is Trump or the United States to think otherwise?

New World Waking 2014 (Music Videos)

A few years ago my distant blogger buddy NYC singer/songwriter Steve Schalchlin posted his public performance of "New World Waking 2014".

I thought given all the conflicts still going on in the world his show is as appropriate now as it was then.

What follows are four clips from this performance among his many on YouTube.

"Holy Dirt"

"War By Default"

"I Enter This Battle Gravely"

"Epilogue"

I'd like to add a few more.
This one goes back to May 8, 2007 in Olympia, Washington.

Steve didn't end it there. "San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus meet with mothers Gabi Clayton and Carolyn Wagner before the 30th anniversary show which features songs written about the two women's experience with hate crimes perpetrated upon their gay sons.".
December 1, 2008

I consider Steve Schalchlin a amazing man. He suffers and still survives from a severe HIV infection decades beyond what doctors said would be possible. Perhaps God allowed him to live for a purpose. And for that miracle Steve hasn't disappointed even though he requires multiple medications to get him through the day.

So on this day--given what the world is going through over divisions between one another and strangers from foreign lands--I feel the time couldn't be more appropriate for this post.

I'm asking has anyone watched these videos?
This is important to me. Let me know.

Time To Get Rid Of Baseball Umpires?

"A French inventor has created £149 ($200) device that can detect whether balls are out - and he expects to sell it this summer. The device sits on the net and maps the ball's flight - using artificial intelligence (AI) to measure flight, pace and spin."

It appears this device could also be used in baseball to end arguments with the umps.

We've all seen broadcasts which show the speed of the ball as well as the batting zone in real time.

I'm certain baseball purists would be against this but wouldn't this be the ultimate in fairness?

Same would go with base runners. Computers are capable of seeing down into microseconds. Far more then any human would be capable of when it comes to being tagged out. Even slow motion camera replays are limited. Course then fans wouldn't have the same enjoyment watching players clearing the benches to slug it out and bitching about umpires' calls.

Question is which would fans prefer?

Allentown School District Does This Make Sense?

ASD Approves $12M Building 21 Deal
Stephen Althouse | WFMZ (03/24/2017)
"The Allentown School District, yet again facing a significant financial shortfall, purchased Building 21 from developer Abraham Atiyeh during Thursday night's board of directors' meeting. The vote was 9-0.

In return for 11.55 acres of land and the building, located at 265 Lehigh St., the district will part with $12 million. The deal, between Basin Property Development LP and ASD requires a $200,000 down payment, followed by the remaining $11.8 million due at closing. The district had been leasing the building since 2015."

My Comments
Let me the first to say I'm not the brightest bulb on the marquee. Maybe someone can explain to me why this makes sense.

I did a search of Lehigh County Property Records. Here's what I came we up with...

Back in January 2017 WFMZ reported--"With the help of local lawmakers, including Pa. Sen. Pat Browne, Pa. Rep. Peter Schweyer, and Pa. Rep. Michael Schlossberg, the state's third largest urban district secured a $1 million state grant...

The cash will be used to renovate the high school building, Building 21, opened two years ago as an alternative learning center."

I'm not a financial genius but if I were looking to buy property I'd be reluctant to pay nearly 3x's more then it might be worth. Perhaps there's a logical reason I'm not aware of. Absent such a explanation it appears being a developer in Allentown really pays off!

Not only would taxpayers fix up my building while I collected rent--they'd turn around a give me nearly 6x's what I paid initially less then three years later.

Apparently I'm dumb as dirt not knowing all the facts OR something seems out of whack.

Can someone enlighten me why this makes sense--what am I missing?

Whole World Is FOS

What I learned over the last few years. The whole world is FOS.

Past History
Roosevelt loved Stalin. Thought he'd be a great partner as long as he agreed to attack the Japanese after the defeat of Germany. He also agreed in 1945 how'd Russia, we and Britain would divvy up countries after the war at the Yalta conference in Crimea. Roosevelt even laughed at and played Churchill as a fool in order to win over Stalin to the cause. Eventually all three turned out to be FOS.

Shortly after the conference Churchill somewhat undercover visited China in the hopes of winning over the Chinese government to find favor with the British Empire over U.S. interests. Churchill (a heavy drinker) once stated Anglo-Saxons were meant to be the superior race Thus justification for the continued British colonies rule over India, Africa and elsewhere.

As Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt canoodled millions continued to die fighting Japan and Hitler's troops. While at the same time the FOS madman (who never honored a treaty in his life) barked out orders safely tucked away in his mountain retreat.

Prior to this in 1944 the Democratic party destroyed heir apparent Henry Wallace's chances at becoming vice president They played every trick possible to make far less deserving Harry Truman their candidate. This eventually led to Truman becoming President despite the extreme support of delegates for Wallace at the convention. Much like they did screwing over Bernie Sanders enabling Hillary in 2016.

Moving Ahead A Few Years
The Vietnamese were portrayed as our enemies. We spread napalm, agent orange, land mines and destroyed villages like there was no tomorrow. No one yet seems to have an explanation how they'd been a threat to the United States to this day. A few decades later we invaded Afghanistan and Iraq even though all evidence pointed towards Saudi Arabia for the attacks on 9/11.

Today
Republicans along with Trump promise cheaper and better healthcare for all. A greater America for each and everyone great or small.

Democrats--who manipulated the convention in 2016 to oust Bernie Sanders are as guilty as conservatives who redistricted voting areas. Our individually perceived enemies in each and every case are FOS as all the others throughout history just as they are now.

For these reasons and many more since the biblical days I've concluded the whole world always was FOS. Whether it comes down to ethnicity, religion, whatever government is in power or anything that divides us provoking mankind to kill one another or screw over one another financially for whatever cause is nothing but more then BS.

I agree there will always be bad actors needing to be caged--other then them--ethnicity, religion nor nationality makes us not any different from one another. We're all FOS one way or another, but this killing millions of each other is beyond stupid. Imagine someone far superior looking down at this planet. There are few innocents to be found here. We not only look like fools, but who'd want to associate with the likes of us?

Surely The Gods Must Laughing At Our Foolishness

Anyone wanting an eye opening experience of history should check out Oliver Stone's "Untold History Of The United States".

End Near For Allentown FBI Probe?

Sure sounds like it.

WFMZ is reporting today (03/22/2017)--"According to court paperwork, [former city managing director] Francis Dougherty pleaded guilty to one count to commit mail/wire fraud. The indictment came down on March 13 and was unsealed Wednesday. As part of his plea deal, Dougherty agreed to testify as a witness before any grand jury, hearing or trial when the government asks him to."

From what I understand the present grand jury's work will be done by the end of this month. Assuming they would hand down a further indictment to include the mayor the only thing remaining is to turn over their findings to prosecutors who'll decide whether to proceed with charges.

If prosecutors decide to enact charges it could take many months. Long after the local elections. However it's not looking good for the mayor.

There's nothing to stop the mayor from running. Hell he could even win the upcoming city election. If that should happen it would be up to council to unseat him through the city charter.

I'd never place a bet on how things will turn out with voters in Allentown given their history. Ought to be interesting how this will play out.

The main takeaway is---things are coming to a head most likely in the next few weeks.

Trump Blacklist Lehigh County

OMG it was only a few days ago I promised myself I wasn't going to talk about this dummkopf. Sorry but when it effects us here locally I can't help myself.

Not when our so-called president put Lehigh County on his naughty list as one of those who provide sanctuary for illegals.

I got further fired up reading all the ignorant comments that followed on social media. Obviously from those who either not read the local stories completely or are uneducated as our so-called commander and chief.

Enforcement Authority And Responsibilities
First off I have no idea whether Trump's list only refers to L.C. sheriffs or the dozens of other police departments who operate within the county. That said no matter who is arrested each and everyone convicted then sent to jail is entered into "The National Crime Information Center" database" (NCIC). This is where responsibility should end for state and local police as well as L.C. courts. Federal agents (including ICE) have easy access to all the information they need to enforce federal laws.

State, local nor county sheriffs are neither compensated nor have jurisdiction over ever changing federal rules regarding immigration. It's a rather simple matter for ICE to access NCIC and send a legal detention order to local authorities.

At the present time a court authorized detention order cannot exceed 48 hours from the time someone's released from jail. If ICE doesn't show up within that time frame a detainee has every right to sue whoever held them beyond that limit. Such was the very case in which L.C. was sued and had to pay out $95,000 for holding one of them beyond two days. Who do you think got stuck with the bill--not the federal government. So not only did we pick up the tab for the additional 48 hours but so too incurred legal liability for the failure by federal government to follow through on the very thing they requested.

Currently Lehigh County's budget is made up almost by 2/3's coming from state and federal funding. Trump has threatened to cut off funding for both states and local municipalities who he deems as sanctuaries for illegal immigrants. Not only the county's budget is under threat but on top of that so too local police and city funding resources as well. This hit list of his could be the start of something far more sinister then just him adding a bunch more of enemies to his lists. If the federal government insists on coming up with these rules of law--why should our local taxes suffer?

There's another element I haven't seen mentioned. There are a large number of cities, states and counties who are paying for private contractors to run prisons. So who would be held legally accountable if someone was detained beyond 48 hours? They, the state or local government? In the end I suppose it doesn't matter because taxpayers always end up paying.

The Bottom-line Is This
When this president's shenanigans start costing states, counties and local municipalities more then taxpayers' can afford--forcing them into bankruptcy--maybe people will start to care more about the flattening of their wallets then political differences.

When a president threatens states and cities, beneficial programs/agencies, the media, a football player's career, our allies, entertainers, even congressional members--one has to ask--who's side is he on?

Or is his mind running on..

Trump Wants To Fire Big Bird

The end of Big Bird?
Paul Farhi | The Washington Post
"People in public broadcasting expect President Trump to propose “zeroing out” the government’s subsidy of noncommercial radio and TV stations when he presents his first federal budget to Congress this week. Such a proposal would eliminate the $445 million that Congress now sends to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB)...

The CPB’s share of the $4 trillion federal budget is microscopic — typically around 0.01 percent"

The good news is, Big Bird will survive. According to The Washington Examiner, 'The program's parent company, Sesame Workshop, struck a deal with HBO in 2015 that gave the private cable network first-run episodes. PBS is still allowed to air the reruns."

Even if Big Bird survives I still have major issues with eliminating the CPB. This $445 million may seem like a lot of money but nothing compared to what THIS CHART reveals. The latest F-22 Raptor Osprey aircraft cost $250 million each. Although the military is tight lipped about how many we have a good estimate might be close to 500.

It's estimated "the cost of protecting Melania Trump and her son in New York is $1 million a day.." More conservative estimates place it at $200,000 a day. Even that would come in around $73 million a year for the Tower in NYC alone. This doesn't include his trips to Mar-a-Lago resort nor the 50 to 100 secret service agents assigned to the rest of his family while they jet off on vacations and other family business.

Must Be Nice To Be You
While the Trumps are living rich beyond belief on taxpayers' backs he proposes cutting off funds for nearly anything and everything other then the military. I've pointed out just two areas alone which could pay for the program cuts he wants to make (plus some).

It' been said if a government only exist for itself, enriching it's leaders--not for the benefit of it's people--why should it exist at all?

What A Nation Looks Like Without Government SupportHope you're rich and can pay for your parents to stay somewhere else when then they start crapping in their pants--are broke--and have no place to go but yours. Yeah and you too when you get old and your kids won't take you in to wipe your butts either.

Gone would be billions of dollars supporting a persons favorite sports team and concert venues.

Public supported housing would no longer exist for retirees on social security who worked all their lives.

Arts would disappear. Left to deteriorate as those of ancient Greece, Rome and others who flourished before their collapse.

Our environment (food, water), housing and labor guidelines would be left up to private industry to decide such matters.

I could go on and on but I've gone on far too long already. The point is it seems to me we've come to the point where too many people's hatred of government along with the willingness to support this president's lavish lifestyle and his backing for the rich has gone beyond anything I could ever have imagined people would put up with.

There's a fair amount of people unwilling to believe (no matter what I say) I'm not being partisan against Donald Trump nor bitter about some damn election. What I am concerned about is what's best for everyone and this country's future. Government's main purpose is to serve it's people. There will be those who understand. Others who never will. Maybe they were born that way (it's in their DNA) and there's no hope of ever convincing them otherwise, Let us just agree on this one thing. It's possible we're both wired differently.

To this end--I really need to (for my own good) to stop frustrating myself over this. Hopefully my future posts will not be so lengthily nor so seriously involved in this drama. I suppose things will need to play themselves out. What will be, will be as they are meant to be. I've said before I wasn't going to speak anymore about this. I'll use this post to remind myself to lighten up and to get off the podium.

Let's see if I can do it this time :-)

Some Of The Good Work Sesame Street Is Doing (10/20/2015)

Americans Sleep Easier-Brady Crime Solved

Tom Brady's two stolen Super Bowl jerseys recovered in MEXICO
CHRIS SPARGO FOR DAILYMAIL.COM (03/20/2017)
"The FBI has recovered the jersey worn by Tom Brady in the Super Bowl six weeks after it was stolen from his locker... thanks to the joint efforts of NFL security, New England Patriots security, law enforcement authorities and the FBI.

FBI agents also located the jersey Brady wore during the Patriots 2015 Super Bowl win, which had never before been reported as stolen. "

Whew--this takes a load off my mind
